When trying to lose weight, there are certain fundamentals you need to get right. Simple things that play a huge role on whether or not you achieve your goals. Perhaps the most important of all these fundamentals are your eating habits.
In order to look good, you need to ‘eat good’, because without providing your body with the proper fuel, it won’t have the energy to even get you through your day, much less your workouts. The best way to get this energy is by sticking to whole foods in their natural form.
However, even more important than eating the right foods is avoiding the wrong ones, because there are certain foods that will destroy your results; they sabotage your success and make it so hard to achieve your goals, even if you do everything else right. Eating these foods puts you on a frustrating path, where you’re working so hard, but aren’t getting the results to show for it. It can make your dream body feel like a fantasy you are never going to get to live. When you cut them out however, you start dropping fat faster and easier than ever before.
So let’s talk about 3 of these biggest culprits and why they’re so bad for us.
Fat Loss Enemy #1: SugarWe have been told as children that sugar is bad for us and that it will ruin our teeth, but its effects go way behind what a trip to the dentist and some whitening strips can fix.
Sugar is horrible for your health. When you’re trying to lose weight, it’s especially bad.
When you eat sugar, your blood sugar levels rise, which causes massive amounts of insulin to be produced by your body. Insulin is a hormone that sends your body into ‘fat storage mode’. When your insulin levels are high, you stop burning fat, and all the delicious food you eat ends up living around your butt and tummy.
So to keep this from happening, stay away from the sugar.
Fat Loss Enemy #2: White FlourAgain, this has to do with insulin.
These ‘white flour’ foods (white bread, white rice, pasta, etc) have been stripped of their natural vitamins and minerals. They are overly processed and almost entirely made up of simple sugars. As such, you will experience quick bursts of energy and then a sudden energy crash.
In relation to losing weight, when you eat these foods, they break down into sugar quickly, causing more insulin to be released thereby sending your body into ‘fat storage mode’.
Fat Loss Enemy #3: Processed FoodAs a general rule, you want to avoid anything that comes in a box or bag; the cookies, the cakes, the potato chips and so on. These foods have all been made with artificial ingredients, like nasty hydrogenated fats
that clog your arteries and cause you to gain weight. In addition, they are loaded with sugar, which we already know makes us fat.
Here is a simple rule to heed when you are not sure whether or not something is okay to eat. Look at the back of the box. If it contains ingredients that you cannot pronounce, it is probably best to avoid buying that particular food.
But Hey, eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring. You don’t need to be eating bland foods to get that bikini body. In fact, there are some fat-blasting recipes out there that are so delicious, you will probably even feel guilty eating them!
